Turkmenistan participates in the 46th meeting of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee

Executive Secretary of the National Commission of Turkmenistan for UNESCO Chinar Rustamova represents the country at the 46th meeting of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee, which is in New Delhi.

The event is held at one of the largest convention centers in India - Bharat Mandapam. The meeting is attended by delegations from 21 member countries of the World Heritage Committee, as well as observers from states parties to the 1972 Convention for the Protection of the Cultural and Natural Heritage.

The opening was attended by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and UNESCO Director General Audrey Azoulay.

According to the program of events, from July 23 to 25 the Committee will examine the state of conservation of 124 properties already inscribed on the World Heritage List, 57 of which are also included on the List of World Heritage in Danger.

From July 26 to 29, 27 applications for inclusion of sites on the World Heritage List will be considered. Applications will be considered according to property categories: natural, mixed and cultural.

This forum is an important step towards strengthening global cooperation and protection of World Heritage sites. It brings together delegates from around the world to discuss and work together to preserve their common cultural, natural and mixed heritage.

On the sidelines of the forum, Chinar Rustamova is expected to hold a meeting with the Director General of the International Center for the Study of the Preservation and Restoration of Cultural Property (ICCROM), as well as the Secretary General of the National Commission of India for UNESCO.
