Gurbanmyrad Ashirov represented the parliament of Turkmenistan at the forum in Oslo

Delegate of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan, member of the Committee on Social Policy Gurbanmyrad Ashirov represented the country at the Eighth International Parliamentarians’ Conference on the Implementation of the International Conference on Population and Development Program of Action (IPCI/ICPD), held on April 10 - 12 in Oslo, Norway.

The conference participants considered questions about measures to solve problems of reproductive health, maternal and child health, protection of women's rights, principles and methods of achieving gender equality in the Sustainable Development Goals until 2030.

As reported on the website sng.today, the Turkmen delegate spoke about the systematic and consistent activities carried out by the state in this area, including at the legislative level and in interaction with UN agencies.

The IPCI Conference is the only event designed to build global policy consensus on reproductive health and rights.

About 300 delegates took part in the conference, more than 200 of them were parliamentarians from all regions of the world, representatives of national, regional and global parliamentary groups, the source notes.
