The President of Turkmenistan met with the Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov received the Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States Kubanychbek Omuraliev, the State News Agency of Turkmenistan reports.

Omuraliev expressed gratitude for the time allocated for the meeting and the opportunity to take part in the events on the occasion of the proclamation of the city of Anau as the cultural capital of the Turkic world in 2024.

At the same time, the significant contribution of Turkmenistan to building up interstate cooperation in the humanitarian sphere, which is an integral part of world politics and diplomacy, was noted. It was also emphasized that the Organization attaches special importance to strengthening productive cooperation with Turkmenistan, which has observer status in the UTC.

“The further development of effective and constructive relations with the Turkic states occupies an important place in the foreign policy strategy of Turkmenistan,” President Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized. In this regard, the emphasis was placed on the fact that since the accession of Turkmenistan as an observer country to the Organization of Turkic States, the dialogue in the format of this structure has been filled with new content.

The parties also noted the dynamic nature of the traditional dialogue with TURKSOY, aimed at preserving, studying and popularizing the rich cultural heritage of the Turkic peoples in the world.

One of the topics of discussion was the celebration in the country of the 300th anniversary of the birth of Magtymguly Fragi. As noted, in this regard, numerous events are planned aimed at studying and disseminating the literary heritage of the great Turkmen poet.

“Turkmenistan welcomes the active participation of the UTC in these actions,” said President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, confirming his readiness to consider constructive proposals to bring joint cooperation to a qualitatively new level.

As part of the interested exchange of views on the prospects for interaction in the UTC space, taking into account its solid potential, it was noted that expanding the range of programs and projects in various fields, and primarily in education, science and culture, will serve to successfully promote mutually beneficial interstate partnership, filling it specific content.
