The 80th anniversary is not a reason to stop! This is exactly what the legendary traveler Fyodor Konyukhov thinks, who plans to make his last expedition in 2032 - to cross the Pacific Ocean on a raft made of recycled plastic. TASS reports this.
“Age is not a hindrance” is the name of this ambitious mission, which will mark the end of Konyukhov’s long-term career. Traveling from Chile to Australia on a homemade raft will not only be a test of strength and endurance, but also a call for environmental protection.
The choice of material was determined by Konyukhov’s long-term struggle against ocean pollution with microplastics.
Konyukhov is a legend: the first person in the world to reach the five poles of the planet and the first Russian to reach the North and South Poles on skis alone. He was also the first to circumnavigate the world solo, conquer all the Seven Summits, cross the Pacific Ocean in a rowboat, and fly around the world in a hot air balloon.
