A round table on improving the System of National Accounts was held in Ashgabat with the participation of representatives of the State Committee of Turkmenistan on Statistics and the Ministry of Finance and Economy of Turkmenistan. At the meeting, issues related to the results of the survey on production and sale of products were discussed.

The event took place within the framework of the project “Strengthening the institutional, statistical and information technology capacity of the State Committee of Turkmenistan on Statistics”, implemented jointly by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the State Committee of Turkmenistan on Statistics (TurkmenStat).

The purpose of the Round Table was to present and discuss the results of a sample survey conducted in 2022 to compile supply and use tables (SUT), which comprehensively characterize the structure of the economy in a detailed breakdown of industries for 2022.

UNDP international expert Natalya Ustinova presented the participants with the goals, objectives and organizational methodology for surveying the costs of production and sales of products in 2022.

Akmyrat Danatarov, UNDP program analyst in Turkmenistan on governance, economic diversification and inclusive growth, notes:

“Tables of resources and use of goods and services (SUT), being an integral part of the System of National Accounts, represent an integrated system of macroeconomic indicators. These tables provide a detailed breakdown of the structure of the economy, analyzing both industries and products.”
