The inclusion of the celebration of the 300th anniversary of the birth of Magtymguly Fragi in the UNESCO List of Significant Dates in 2024-2025 is recognition by the world community of the Turkmen poet and philosopher as a personality of planetary scale.
This was stated by the executive secretary of the National Commission of Turkmenistan for UNESCO, Hero of Turkmenistan Chinar Rustemova in an interview with the “Neutral Turkmenistan” newspaper.
“He [Magtymguly] told the world about the innermost thoughts of essentially all of humanity, about eternal spiritual and moral values, and gave answers to questions that concern every person, no matter what country he lives in. His poems, which awaken high feelings in the souls of people, still resonate today and will be in demand forever”, - said Rustemova.
This was the reason why the legacy of Magtymguly Fragi went beyond national boundaries and became an integral part of the intellectual treasury of humanity, and the poet himself was recognized as a personality of a planetary scale, emphasized the executive secretary of the National Commission of Turkmenistan for UNESCO.
“The creative heritage of the great Magtymguly Fragi has significant, enduring and fundamental value for all humanity, and this heritage must be protected for research purposes, it must be accessible to as many people as possible around the world. This is the common memory of humanity”, - Rustemova said.
