The employees of the group of service enterprises "Morinzhgeology" climbed the second highest mountain peak in the world - Chogori (8611 meters), where they unfurled the national flag of Turkmenistan in honor of the approaching 32nd anniversary of independence, the general director of JSC "Morinzhgeology" (Turkmenistan) told Turkmenportal.

Chogori, also known as K2, is the second highest mountain in the world after Mount Everest. It is located in the Karakorum mountain system on the border of China and Pakistan. Chogori is considered one of the most difficult mountains to climb in the world due to its high altitude, difficult weather conditions and steep slopes.

Representatives of the "Morinzhgeology" holding from various countries, including Latvia, Russia and Kazakhstan, participated in the ascent of Chogori. The climb to the top was carried out in Pakistan.

The climbers reached the summit of Chogori at 10 am local time. They unfurled the State flag of Turkmenistan and took part in the solemn ceremony.

On the shoulders of experienced climbers, successful ascents of Big Ararat (Armenia, 5165 meters, 2011), Kilimanjaro (5895 meters, 2014) and Meru (4562 meters, 2014) - Tanzania; Aconcagua (Andes, 6960,8 meters, 2018) - the border of Argentina and Chile; Mont Blanc (Western Alps, 4810 meters, 2018) is the border between France and Italy. And finally, in 2019, climbers conquered the "roof of the world" - Jomolungmu (Everest, 8848 meters), unfurling a Turkmen flag on the top.

In Turkmenistan, GSE "Morinzhgeology" operates on the basis of a long-term contract with Dragon Oil (Turkmenistan) Ltd. (UAE) to carry out geophysical and engineering-geological surveys on offshore fields "Jeytun" and "Jygalybek" (Contract territory "Cheleken") in accordance with the Law of Turkmenistan "On Hydrocarbon Resources" and the Agreement on Production Sharing. Also, the holding successfully cooperates in the development of the Caspian shelf with such large oil companies as Petronas Carigali (Turkmenistan) Sdn Bhd, "PAO LUKOIL", "JSC KazMunaiGas" and others.
