The State Customs Service of Turkmenistan has integrated the system TIR-EPD with the automated system for customs data ASYCUDA World. It is reported the official website of the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan.

The system of the preliminary electronic declaration of the cargos transported under Carnet TIR (MDP book) TIR-Electronic-Pre-Declaration was developed by the International Transport Union (IRU) by the proposal of the European Economic Commission.

The TIR-EPD technology is a secure integration of a small software module into the customs information system ASYCUDA World, for the automatic exchange of electronic information on procedures between IRU and the customs service authority. It allows the cargo carrier to enter full information about its cargo in advance, which automatically enters the electronic information systems of all customs services along the entire route of the planned transportation: from the point of departure through transit countries to the destination.

In Turkmenistan, with the support of the International Road Transport Union (IRU), work began on the introduction of IT tools in July 2020. TIR-EPD is the most important step towards computerization of the procedure of international road transport.

TIR-EPD already operates in 32 countries: Austria, Azerbaijan, Afghanistan, Belarus, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Hungary, Germany, Greece, Georgia, Israel, India, Iran, Italy, Kazakhstan, Qatar, Kyrgyzstan, China, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Mongolia, UAE, Oman, Pakistan, Poland, Russia, Romania, Saudi Arabia, Northern Macedonia, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Tajikistan, Türkiye, Uzbekistan, Ukraine, Finland, France, Croatia, Czech Republic and Estonia. Turkmenistan has joined the ranks of users of this electronic system this year.
