The Tambov region plans to increase sugar production by 10%, respectively, and its export.

At present time, Tambov sugar is already being exported to Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, reports interfax-russia with reference to the press service of the regional government.

According to the results of the first half of the year, more than 69 thousand tons of sugar were produced in the region, which is 2 times higher than last year's figures. Thus, the Tambov region became one of the three leaders in sugar production in Russia and the Central Federal District.

The head of the Tambov region Maxim Egorov noted:

“Increasing the harvest of sugar beet will increase sugar production and form the necessary commodity stocks in the Tambov region. Thus, we will fulfill the task of import substitution, and will also be able to increase exports”.
