Emergency vehicles stopped refueling in Sri Lanka

Because of the continuing acute shortage of fuel, the authorities of Sri-Lanka have made a decision to stop fueling ambulance cars and fire fighting vehicles. A week earlier, a decision to stop selling fuel to private individuals was made, people were called to work from home, schools were temporarily closed, info24.ru reports.

It became known on July 3, that there was not enough fuel even to fuel emergency service vehicles. Due to the fuel shortage on the island, the work of healthcare services stops, the food products delivery become impossible.

Harvest collecting and electricity supply of the region are under threat.

The fuel crisis in Sri-Lanka has become the most acute for the country from the moment of gaining independence in 1948. Because of the pandemic, tourists who brought foreign currency to the country practically stopped traveling to Sri Lanka.
