Today, a solemn reception for veterans on the occasion of the 77th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War was held at the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Ashgabat. The event was attended by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Berdiniyaz Myatiyev, who reminded of the importance of the Victory Day celebration.
The diplomat thanked war veterans and home front workers wholeheartedly for the opportunity to live in peace, friendship and harmony.
"Turkmenistan always remembers and will never forget this great feat," Myatiyev said.
Welcoming the audience, Russian Ambassador Alexander Blokhin noted that Victory Day is really a holiday with tears in eyes. Victory Day is important not only for those who lived, who are living, but also for those who will live.
"Each of the fallen did not think of fame or anything else, but sacrificed the most valuable thing a person can sacrifice - life. It is unacceptable and inhumane not to respect it, so such deeds should not be forgotten. And I am very glad that Turkmenistan and its leadership fully share this," Blokhin stressed.
