A wide range of issues related to the implementation of bilateral agreements reached during contacts at the highest state level in 2021-2022 were discussed by the Foreign Ministers of Turkmenistan and the People's Republic of China. Today, the talks between Rashid Meredov and Wang Yi took place on the sidelines of the Third Foreign Ministers’ Meeting Among the Neighboring Countries of Afghanistan in the Chinese city, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan reports.
The parties stated that this meeting was a good opportunity to exchange views on the current state of the Turkmen-Chinese friendly relations, which are of strategic nature. The Ministers stressed that an important mechanism of interstate interaction is the Committee for Cooperation between Turkmenistan and the People's Republic of China, working in four main areas, such as trade, energy, security and culture.
The Foreign Ministers also noted the effectiveness of the multilateral dialogue between Turkmenistan and China within the framework of the international and regional structures, the mutual support of bilateral initiatives and the effectiveness of the Central Asia-China Summit held in January this year.
The parties also paid great attention to the situation in Afghanistan during the negotiations. The Ministers noted the timeliness of this regional dialogue. In this regard, the closeness and similarity of the positions of Turkmenistan and China on topical issues of the regional and global agenda, primarily, related to ensuring universal peace and security, were noted.
To recap, the Head of the Turkmen Foreign Ministry, by the Order of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, is on a visit to China to participate in the Third Foreign Ministers’ Meeting Among the Neighboring Countries of Afghanistan.
