The Central Election Commission registered 2,726 national observers for the March 12 Presidential elections in Turkmenistan, according to the official website of the organization.
544 national observers are registered from the Democratic Party, 355 from the Party of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, 390 from the Agrarian Party, 520 from the Trade Unions, 290 from the Women’s Union, 525 from the Magtymguly Youth Organization of Turkmenistan, 84 from Citizens’ Groups, and 18 observers from the candidates.
As noted, 47.76 percent of domestic observers are women.
National observers monitor the compliance with the Election Campaigning Law within their powers.
At the moment, the foreign observers from the Commonwealth of Independent States, in addition to the national ones, take part in the monitoring of the early Presidential elections in Turkmenistan. As already reported, they visited polling stations in Ashgabat as part of their mission.
