The Dubai government was the first in the world to go digital, completely eliminating paperwork. This was announced by the Crown Prince of the Emirate, Chairman of the Executive Council of Dubai, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, reports mir24. “Today marks the beginning of a new stage in the digitalization of all aspects of life in Dubai.

We have completed the transition to a completely paperless government,” the sheikh said, adding that now all operations in the government, as well as the provision of services to the population, will be carried out using electronic technologies. The rejection of paperwork has affected absolutely all industries - from housing and communal services, police, courts to healthcare, religious, cultural and sports institutions. Some commercial structures have also joined the paperless initiative.

Since 2018, when the paperless strategy began to take root in society, Dubai has saved 336 million paper sheets, which is the equivalent of 353.8 million US dollars.
