The Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan held a roundtable meeting with the participation of representatives of one of the most prestigious universities in Japan - the University of Okayama, according to the newspaper “Neutral Turkmenistan”.

The topic of the online interuniversity meeting was “The role of international peace and trust in the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals”. Special emphasis was placed on the effective cooperation of Turkmenistan with the UN, mainly through the prism of the importance and values of Turkmen neutrality, which underlies the state policy of “open doors”.

Gapbar Hallyev, head of the scientific and methodological center of the SDGs, lecturer at the IMO of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan:

“Today the policy of positive neutrality of our country is widely supported by the international community. This is clearly evidenced by the repeated election of Turkmenistan as Deputy Chairman of the sessions of the General Assembly of the United Nations. The policy of positive neutrality is of particular importance for strengthening stability and security, as well as for the development of economic and humanitarian cooperation.”

The focus of special attention was on student youth, which makes a significant contribution both to the further development of international relations and to innovative transformations in the scientific and educational sphere.

As you know, in this direction, our country is actively cooperating with Japan, directly at the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, Japanese is taught as a second foreign language, along with the study of Chinese, French and other languages, which students themselves choose at will.
