IREX is an international nonprofit organization providing leadership and innovative programs to improve the quality of education, strengthen independent media, and foster pluralistic civil society development.
Founded in 1968, IREX has an annual portfolio of over $70 million and a staff of over 400 professionals worldwide. IREX employs field-tested methods and innovative uses of technologies to develop practical and locally-driven solutions with our partners in more than 100 countries.
In Turkmenistan IREX works since 1993. We administer education exchange programs of the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the United States Department of State for graduate and undergraduate students. Another program we do is Promotion of Information and Education Technologies in Turkmenistan (PICTT). This program is supported by USAID and implemented in cooperation with Turkmenistan Academy of Science.
