Position: Solid Control Engineer
The Solid Control Engineer is responsible to operate the Cuttings Dryer, shakers, hydrocyclones, centrifuges, etc
Roles and Responsibilities:
Able to demonstrate an understanding of the drilling fluid system (i.e. drilling mud, it’s components, and each components function), the impact of low gravity solids (LGS), and primary techniques and systems used for drilling waste management.
Able to safely perform startup & shutdown of all Solids Control equipment (i.e. shale shakers, centrifuges, solids control pumps, etc.) .
Able to perform a shale shaker system installation with supervision as well as perform all shale shaker adjustments (i.e. deck angle, fluid coverage, motion type, fluid distribution, angle of inclination, cleaning practices, etc.) used to optimize the operational efficiency of the equipment.
Able to properly maintain, change and/or repair oilfield screens on-the-job as well as identify different screen failure types.
Knowledgeable regarding centrifuge equipment properties (i.e. G-Force, differential, GPM maximum, etc.).
Knowledgeable regarding the centrifuge operation when using weighted or un-weighted drilling fluid, and the impact on the drilling fluid system when centrifuge adjustments are performed.
Need to be competent in cuttings collection equipment, operations, and safety.
Able to trouble shoot equipment and ensure good functioning of the solid control equipment.
Able to make all necessary adjustments needed for changes in drilling operations.
Able to calculate Retention On Cuttings (ROC) by dry or wet weight.
Retained-On-Cuttings (ROC) analysis for NAF cuttings from shakers, Dryer and centrifuges.
Conduct rheological mud properties check on the recovered mud for re-use.
Maintain records of quantities of mud volume recovered for re-use, cutting volume and Small Volume Discharges.
Ensuring maintenance of equipment is in place and as per schedule.
Adheres to Electrical Safety Guidelines & Lock Out/ Tag Out procedures.
Able to explain proper grounding techniques and the risks associated with wiring motors for high and low voltage for electrical equipment.
Able to assist with basic troubleshooting of electrical circuitry in order to maintain equipment in operational condition.
Ensure implementation of company’s and the customer’s Quality, Health & Safety and Environmental Policies, Procedures and Quality Plans.
Attend all Operator and Drilling Contractor organized safety meetings and advise on health, safety and environmental matters relating to SLB products and fluids.
Maintain an active role in the identification and reporting of hazards, non-conformances and opportunities for improvement of QHSE and where relevant assist in the implementation of corrective and preventive actions and improvements.
Qualifications and Experience:
High school, college/university education with rig site experience in operating solid control equipment. (Formal theoretical education may be compensated by long-term experience.).
Minimum five (5) years oilfield, and/or relevant equipment experience.
Strong understanding of HSE culture, with a proven record of implementing and maintaining safety practices.
Good knowledge of written and spoken English and Russian.
