The eleventh meeting of the High-Level Working Group on the Caspian Sea (HLWG) is taking place in the capital of Turkmenistan, with the participation of diplomats from the five Caspian littoral states – Russia, Azerbaijan, Iran, Kazakhstan, and Turkmenistan.
According to the Turkmen Foreign Ministry, the meeting participants reviewed multilateral cooperation in the Caspian Sea and discussed preparations for the next meeting of foreign ministers of the Caspian littoral countries.
The meeting focused on establishing direct baselines in the Caspian Sea. Diplomats also discussed the possibility of creating a special working group of Caspian states to address issues related to the shallowing of the Caspian Sea.
