The President of the International Gas Union (IGU) Andrea Steger will personally participate as a keynote speaker at the OGT 2025 conference, which will be held from October 22 to 24 in Ashgabat. His speech will add special weight to the high-level dialogue at a time of global changes in energy markets, highlighting the international significance of the event and the strategic role of Turkmenistan in the Eurasian energy sector.
The International Gas Union brings together more than 130 members from over 70 countries, covering more than 90% of the global gas market, and promotes safe, reliable and low-carbon energy solutions. The OGT Organising Committee noted that Mr Steger’s participation aims to strengthen the discussions on the future of natural gas as a key element of the transition to low-carbon energy.
To date, more than 300 delegates from 40 countries have confirmed their participation in the conference, including heads of national and international oil and gas companies, technology leaders and financial institutions. The OGT 2025 program includes a ministerial dialogue on energy security, sessions on gas monetization and infrastructure, methane and CO2 emissions reduction, digital operations, financing, and the development of local talent and innovation ecosystems.
Turkmenistan, which has the world’s fourth-largest natural gas reserves, is actively expanding partnerships and modernizing its energy infrastructure. Hosting the anniversary OGT in Ashgabat underlines the country’s commitment to meaningful and forward-looking dialogue in the context of the growing global role of gas and the need for decarbonization.
