Turkmenistan is actively promoting the electrification of transport as part of the implementation of the program to decarbonize the economy. This was stated by Deputy Minister of Finance and Economy of Turkmenistan Babaniyaz Yallakov, speaking at the First Ministerial Forum of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) on Sustainable Development in the city of Arkadag, a Turkmenportal correspondent reports.

“An example of the effective implementation of the electrification program is the successful introduction of public electric buses and electric taxis in the new city of Arkadag. In parallel, the charging infrastructure is being developed, ensuring its availability for users of electric transport,” Yallakov noted.

According to the deputy minister, the adaptation of transport systems to climate change is a priority area for the development of the country’s transport infrastructure.

Yallakov emphasized that environmental protection, combating climate change and rational use of natural resources are considered by the leadership of Turkmenistan as global challenges requiring international cooperation. The state policy in this area provides for strengthening international cooperation and implementing new environmental projects.
