A group of engineers of the Seoul National University of Science and Technology (SeoulTech) introduced a device for transporting goods - the flying Palletrone platform, RBC LIFE reports with reference to New Atlas.
Palletrone is a platform with an upper load, inside which a multi -generated drone is placed. Thanks to this, the device can move in any direction, including up and down, as well as overcome stairs without contact with the surface.
Platform control is carried out at chest level using a special pen that permits you to adjust the flight path. Hardware and software provides a stable position of the device in the air. User safety is guaranteed by the lattice body that protects the drone rotors, while maintaining the effectiveness of the air flow.
Despite the futuristic design and an innovative approach, Palletrone has a number of restrictions. The main disadvantages include the noise of the drone, a relatively small carrying capacity (about 3 kg) and a limited battery operation.
Currently, developers are working on creating a recharge system in flight, which will increase the duration of the device during shopping. Despite the current restrictions, Palletrone demonstrates the potential to change the traditional approach to the process of purchasing and transporting goods.
