Evening of Persian poetry and literature held in Ashgabat

An event dedicated to Persian poetry and literature, as well as the memory of the famous Iranian poet Seyyed Mohammed Hussein Shahriyar, was held at the cultural center of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Turkmenistan. The event was attended by teachers and students majoring in “Persian language and literature” from leading Turkmen universities, as well as diplomats and representatives of the cultural community.

Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Turkmenistan Ali Mojtaba Ruzbahani in his speech emphasized the richness and influence of Persian literature, noting its importance as the second language of the Islamic world. He especially highlighted Shahriyar’s contribution to the development of Persian poetry, reminding that September 17 has been declared the National Day of Persian Poetry and Literature in memory of this outstanding poet.

The Embassy's Cultural Counselor Navid Rasouli noted the important role of Persian literature in conveying universal values and its influence on world culture. He also mentioned the upcoming 300th anniversary of the Turkmen poet Magtymguly Fragi, whose work echoes the traditions of Persian poetry.

Representatives of Turkmen universities spoke about the development of teaching Persian language and literature in the country, emphasizing the importance of cultural ties between Turkmenistan and Iran.

The event became a vivid example of cultural exchange and strengthening of interethnic ties in the field of literature and education.
