At the Asia-Pacific Conference on Digital Inclusion and Transformation, held on September 2 in Astana under the auspices of ESCAP, representatives of Uzbekistan's Ministry of Digital Technologies held an important meeting with their Kazakh counterparts. The key outcome of the talks was a statement on the intention of the two countries to join forces in the space sector, NUZ.UZ reported.

According to the Uzbek ministry's press service, the two sides agreed to develop specific proposals for joint launch of space satellites by the end of 2024.

In addition to space initiatives, the meeting participants touched upon the issues of regional cooperation in the sphere of digital education and implementation of innovative technologies.

It should be noted that this initiative develops the provisions of the intergovernmental agreement on cooperation in the space sphere, signed between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan in May 2022. Earlier, “Uzbekcosmos” has already expressed interest in studying Kazakhstan's experience in space monitoring of water resources for subsequent application in Uzbekistan.
