A ceremonial event dedicated to the 102nd anniversary of Turkey’s Victory Day, which marked the end of the country’s War of Independence, was held in Ashgabat. The celebration took place on August 30 at the residence of the Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to Turkmenistan, a Turkmenportal correspondent reports.

The event was attended by Deputy Minister of Defense of Turkmenistan Dovran Durdyev, Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to Turkmenistan Ahmet Demirok, Turkish Military Attaché Mehmet Yildiz, as well as heads of diplomatic missions and deputy heads of law enforcement agencies of Turkmenistan.

Deputy Minister of Defense of Turkmenistan Dovran Durdyev in his congratulatory speech emphasized the importance of the holiday and noted the close relations between Turkmenistan and Turkey, which are developing in many areas, including military-technical cooperation. Particular attention in the speech was paid to the recent bilateral visits of the Ministers of Defense of Turkmenistan and Turkey, which took place in July and August of this year. These visits, according to Durdyev, are clear evidence of the priority of Turkmen-Turkish cooperation for both countries.

In his speech, Turkish Ambassador Ahmet Demirok noted the historical significance of Victory Day for Turkey, calling it a symbol of the Turkish people’s resilience and the foundation for the creation of a modern Turkish state. He also read out a message from Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan dedicated to this significant date.

The event ended with a symbolic gesture emphasizing the strength of friendly ties between the two countries. Deputy Minister of Defense of Turkmenistan Dovran Durdyev presented the Turkish military attaché with a book entitled

“The Horse – a Symbol of Loyalty and Happiness,” authored by the National Leader of the Turkmen People Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
