In Ashgabat, a meeting of delegations of Turkmenistan and Afghanistan was held in an expanded format, following which a number of important documents aimed at strengthening cooperation between the two countries were signed, TDH reports.
The meeting was attended by deputy chairmen of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, heads of ministries and departments, as well as members of the Afghan delegation headed by Acting Minister of Mining and Petroleum Products H. Badri. The parties emphasized the positive dynamics of expanding cooperation and confirmed their readiness to further develop fruitful ties.
The following documents were signed during the meeting:
- Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Energy of Turkmenistan and the Afghan state company Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat on cooperation in the implementation of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan electric pipeline project.
- Memorandum of Understanding between the Turkmendemiryollary Agency and the Ministry of Public Works of Afghanistan on cooperation in the construction of facilities at the Torghundi railway station.
- Work plan of the 22-kilometer section of the Turgundi-Sanabar railway Turgundi-Herat, the construction of which is planned between the Agency «Turkmen Demir Yollary» of the Agency for Transport and Communications under the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan and the Ministry of Public Works of Afghanistan;
- Agreement between the joint-stock company TAPI Pipeline Company Limited and the host government on the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline project of Afghanistan.
These agreements are aimed at giving new impetus to the development of Turkmen-Afghan trade and economic cooperation, increasing mutual trade turnover and diversifying its structure.
