Turkmenistan, being a full member of the Organization for the Development of Islamic Hockey (ORHIS), recently received a plan of sporting events of the organization for 2025. This was reported by the Chairman of the Hockey Federation of Turkmenistan, Jora Hudayberdyev, on the pages of the newspaper “Neutral Turkmenistan”.
According to the received plan, ORHIS offers Turkmenistan to jointly develop phygital sports, which combine real sports competitions and computer games. In addition, the organization actively promotes the “three-on-three” (3x3) hockey format. It is planned that in May next year ORHIS will hold tournaments in these disciplines, as well as in traditional hockey, where the national team of Turkmenistan has been invited.
Hudayberdyev also noted that Qatar and Azerbaijan have applied to join ORHIS. It is expected that this issue will be resolved positively at the organization's next online congress. At present, ORHIS includes 17 countries.
Since Turkmenistan joined the organization, ORHIS has been sending highly qualified coaches to Ashgabat every year to train the country's youth and men's teams. In 2023, one of the coaches of the Turkmen hockey players was three-time world champion Danis Zaripov, and this year Andrei Makarov, head coach of the Tatarstan team “Irbis”, worked with the team.
The Chairman of the Hockey Federation of Turkmenistan expressed gratitude to the management of ORHIS for active cooperation and support in the development of hockey in the country.
