Humanitarian cooperation and support for states in need is an important part of Turkmenistan’s foreign policy. These principles were laid down by the National Leader of the Turkmen people Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and are consistently implemented by President Serdar Berdimuhamedov. They are based on humanism, peacefulness and mutual assistance - the deep historical traditions of the Turkmen people, the source notes.
The country is actively involved in world-class humanitarian projects. In particular, on the initiative of the President, the Charitable Foundation named after Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov was created. It provides targeted assistance to those in need within the country and abroad, primarily to children from low-income and disadvantaged families.
Such targeted humanitarian support clearly illustrates the consistent foreign policy of Turkmenistan, aimed at strengthening international cooperation in the name of peace and creation. Particular attention is paid to children as the most vulnerable, but important for the future category.
In February 2023, a devastating earthquake occurred in Turkey. Turkmenistan immediately responded by sending humanitarian aid to the affected Turkish children and their families. This once again demonstrated the close spiritual, cultural and historical ties between the two peoples.
Last May, a large-scale humanitarian aid was sent to Afghanistan to support the Afghan people, with whom the Turkmens have had warm and friendly relations for centuries.
In February of this year, after an accident at the Bishkek thermal power plant, Turkmenistan helped Kyrgyzstan stabilize the energy situation by supplying liquefied gas free of charge. This once again demonstrated Turkmenistan’s commitment to humanism and mutual assistance in foreign policy.
Regular humanitarian support has become part of the foreign policy strategy of modern Turkmenistan, based on the traditions of the Turkmen people. It strengthens the country's authority on the world stage and brings to life the ideals of humanism and justice.
