These days, the exhibition of the Department of Nature and Local History of the State Museum of the State Cultural Center of Turkmenistan is very lively. The guests of the department were students of art schools in Ashgabat, who are preparing for an exhibition on the occasion of International Bird Day. This environmental holiday is dedicated to promoting the protection of birds and solving problems associated with the disappearance of many species of avifauna.
As reported on the museum’s website, this year on April 1, an exhibition of drawings by students of art schools in Ashgabat entitled “Birds - the decoration of nature” will be organized here.
Now the guys are making sketches from the exhibits. Museum artists give them master classes, and guides give them excursions.
At present time, in the museum you can see 120 species of birds found in Turkmenistan. In total, according to the latest data, there are 436 species of birds in the country.
A huge diorama called “Waterbirds” contains 30 species of birds. These are various types of ducks, long-legged herons, plumes, spoonbills, birds of prey that feed on fish and others.
Young artists are given the chance to choose the bird they like from the museum’s exhibition, draw in any technique and present their work at the exhibition.
The best works will be awarded with memorable prizes from the Nature Conservation Society of Turkmenistan and the Magtymguly Youth Organization of Turkmenistan.
