Medieval artifacts were found at the construction site of the future university of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan in the north-west of Ashgabat, reports the website of the State Museum of Turkmenistan.
During excavations in the Bagtyyarlyk etrap of the Turkmen capital, ceramic, glazed, unglazed and glassware, pots, lamps, samovars, a bronze pot, a horseshoe, a clay pipe and millstones were discovered.
“Attention is drawn to the carved patterns on the surface of unglazed dishes and the multi-colored patterns and geometric patterns on the glazed ones”, - the museum said in a statement.
Judging by the diversity and nature of the artifacts found, it can be assumed that there was a fairly large and economically developed settlement in this area that existed since the early Middle Ages.
Valuable finds were handed over to the State Museum of the State Cultural Center of Turkmenistan by employees of the private enterprise Nur bina gurluşyk, which is building the UIET university.
Museum experts expressed confidence that after a thorough study, the artifacts will be able to tell a lot of new information about the history of Turkmenistan and its modern capital.
