The water in the Venetian Grand Canal turned poisonous green, reported “Argumenty i Fakty” with reference to Corriere del Veneto publication.

The prefecture of Venice called an urgent meeting to find out the origin of the green paint in the canal. The most popular version is that these are the tricks of eco-activists. The gondoliers said they spotted a group of Norwegian tourists dropping paint briquettes from two boats.

Water samples from the Grand Canal were taken for analysis to determine the exact origin of the green pigment.

Not so long ago, environmental activists in Italy “distinguished themselves” by painting the water in one of the fountains of Rome black in protest against the use of hydrocarbon fuels.
