Kazakhstan received a right to host “Grad Slam” judo tournament up to the end of 2026

The Kazakhstan Judo Federation has signed a four-year contract with the International Judo Federation (IJF) to host the world tournament of “Grand Slam” series in Kazakhstan.

The solemn signing ceremony of the document took place in Paris (France), reports the official website of Kazakhstan Judo Federation.

Kazakhstan has received the right to host the Grand Slam for a period of 4 years - from 2023 to 2026. The tournament will be held in Astana under the name Qazaqstan Barysy Grand Slam.

Moreover, after the end of the competition, regular international judo training camps will be held every year.

The Kazakhstan Judo Federation President Kuanyshbek Yessekeyev thanked the head of the IJF Marius Vizer for trust and promised to hold competitions at the best time of the year.

“Grand Slam” is a series of world competitions held within the framework of the IJF World Tour according to the international competition calendar. According to the IJF rules, points in the world and Olympic rankings are distributed between the winners and prize-winners of the competitions. In particular, 1000 will be awarded for the 1st place, 700 for the 2nd place, 500 for the 3rd place. At the Qazaqstan Oblysy Grand Slam tournament, judoists will earn points to participate in the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris and 2028 in Los Angeles.
