According to the official representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, Irina Volk, for 11 months of 2022, the territorial bodies of the department canceled about 400 permits issued to foreigners for living in the Russian Federation.

“... in connection with the invalidation of the marriage concluded by these persons with citizens of the Russian Federation”, Irina Volk told the TASS news agency.

At present time, the procedure for interdepartmental approval of the draft law is being carried out, aimed at excluding for foreign citizens the possibility of using fictitious marriages and fictitious establishing paternity to obtain migration status on the territory of the Russian Federation.

In accordance with the current law “On Citizenship of the Russian Federation”, foreign citizens and stateless persons can apply for simplified admission to Russian citizenship if they have been married to a Russian citizen for at least three years, and also without observing such a period if there is a common child in the family.
