The Government of the Russian Federation has approved an agreement with Belarus on the mutual recognition of visas issued for foreigners to enter these countries. The decision is published on the official portal of legal information.

This means that citizens of third countries with a Belarusian visa will be able to freely enter Russia, and foreigners with a Russian visa can visit Belarus.

The agreement was signed in Minsk on June 19, 2020, and now the draft law will be submitted to the State Duma for ratification. According to it, Russia and Belarus mutually recognize visas and other documents for foreigners that give the right to enter and stay in the territory of both countries, as well as marks on crossing the external border of the Union State.

Citizens of Turkmenistan to visit Belarus and Russia require a visa. After the entry into force of the agreement, foreigners will not need to obtain two visas to travel to Belarus and Russia. Having a visa of one of these countries, they will be able to enter, exit and stay in the territory of the other party during the validity period of the visa and will be able to travel by air, rail, as well as six roads (they are defined in the annex to the agreement). Visas will be mutually recognized for stays of up to 90 days.
