The Foreign Ministers of Turkmenistan and Japan discussed bilateral cooperation

Issues of cooperation in the political, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres were discussed today in Tokyo by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan Yoshimasa Hayashi, the press-service of the Turkmen Foreign Ministry reports.

The Head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan congratulated his colleague on the successful holding of the 9th Meeting of Foreign Ministers of the “Central Asia + Japan” Dialogue, noting the timeliness of the six-sided meeting.

Speaking about bilateral relations, Rashid Meredov focused on the main and most important areas of cooperation of mutual interest. The first is interaction in the political and diplomatic sphere, including contacts at the highest level and inter-parliamentary cooperation. The second is the expansion of trade and economic relations, and the third is cultural and humanitarian cooperation.

At the end of the meeting, the heads of the foreign ministries expressed confidence in the further progressive and stable development of cooperation between Turkmenistan and Japan.

With this meeting, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov concluded a four-day working visit to Japan. The government delegation of Turkmenistan headed by him held a number of business meetings in Tokyo earlier, and also took part in the 14th joint meeting of the Turkmen-Japanese Committee for Economic Cooperation.

Today, the Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan also took part in the 9th meeting of the Foreign Ministers of Central Asia and Japan.
