From January 1, 2023 for holiday-makers in Türkiye introduced a new tax on accommodation, reports the Association of Tour Operators of Russia on its website.
The fee is planned to be charged in the process of purchasing a tourist voucher. All types of accommodation for tourists will be subject to taxation: hotels, guest houses, hostels, motels, campsites, boarding houses, motorhomes, thermal complexes, apartment hotels and more.
A 2% accommodation tax will be levied on overnight accommodation and other services that are usually included in the package – meals (including “all inclusive” and “ultra all inclusive” categories), entertainment, use of the swimming pool, thermal complex, spa services, etc.
An exception will be made only for spa-zones and pools in the thermal hotels when serving customers who do not live in these hotels. On average, the cost of the rest in Türkiye will increase by 2%.
