Permanent Plenipotentiary Representative of Turkmenistan to the statutory and other bodies of the CIS Nazar Shagulyev participated in a regular meeting of the Council of Permanent Plenipotentiary Representatives of the Commonwealth Member States, held in Minsk.
As reports the press service of the CIS Executive Committee, the members of the Council of Permanent Plenipotentiary Representatives discussed the activities of the Council for Cultural Cooperation. The main cultural events upcoming in the CIS in the coming years are the holding in 2023 of the Year of the Russian language as a language of interethnic communication, the interstate programs “Karakol - the Cultural Capital of the Commonwealth of 2022” and “Comrat - the Cultural Capital of the Commonwealth of 2023”, the International Exhibition ART EXPO in 2024 in Kyrgyzstan.
The Council will also take a direct part in organizing the development of the International Project “Precious Commonwealth Necklace”.
The meeting covered the activities of the CIS Information Council, whose members are the heads of state news agencies of Azerbaijan (“AzerTAg”), Armenia (“Armenpress”), Belarus (“BelTA”), Kazakhstan (“Kazinform”), Kyrgyzstan (“Kabar”), Moldova (“Moldpres”), Russia (TASS) and Tajikistan (“Khovar”). Official invitations to participate in the work of the Information Council are regularly sent to the heads of state agencies of Turkmenistan (State News Agency of Turkmenistan) and Uzbekistan (UzA).
At the meeting of the Council of Permanent Representatives, the issue of implementing the provisions of the Free Trade Zone Agreement was considered, preparations for the next meetings of the Council of Heads of State and the Council of Foreign Ministers of the CIS, which will be held in mid-October in Astana, were discussed.
Also, within the framework of the meeting, a presentation of the exhibition “To know and remember: genocide during the Second World War” was held. The exposition is devoted to the theme of the genocide of the population of Belarus during the Great Patriotic War.
