Representatives of state bodies of the social and labor sphere of Turkmenistan participated in the International Conference of the CIS on the development of social services, including the rehabilitation of persons with disabilities, which was held online.
The conference discussed new methods and approaches in the social service systems of the CIS countries, issues of rehabilitation and observance of the rights of persons with disabilities, and also topical issues in the development of the social service system in the Commonwealth states, innovative approaches to the provision of social services to the population, problems of social inclusion. Within the framework of the conference was an exchange of experience in solving practical problems and introducing best practices in matters of medical, social rehabilitation and habilitation of persons with disabilities, current trends in medical and social expertise, practical issues of data collection and prospects for the development of disability statistics, national models of raising and educating children with developmental disabilities were discussed.
At the end of the online conference, a Resolution on the development of social services, including the rehabilitation of persons with disabilities, was adopted, within the framework of which the CIS member states confirmed their readiness to further develop the social security system and modernize the system of support for persons with disabilities, including through consolidation of efforts and international cooperation.
The event was attended by representatives from the countries of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, and also the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of the CIS Member States, the Eurasian Economic Commission, the Interstate Statistical Committee, the General Confederation of Trade Unions and other interested parties.
The event was organized by the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Republic of Kazakhstan as the chairing body in the Consultative Council on Labor, Employment and Social Protection of the Population of the CIS Member States, with the support of the CIS Executive Committee.
