New estimate cost standards for construction, reconstruction, repair and maintenance of roads will be introduced in Turkmenistan. It is proposed to take such a step "in order to properly organize the activities of the country's road construction industry, as well as reliable financing of road works," Deputy Prime Minister Charymyrat Purchekov informed at a Government meeting on Friday.

According to him, the proposals on this issue were discussed by specialists of the Ministry of Construction and Architecture and the Ministry of Finance at a meeting of the Intersectoral Commission.

Currently, in Turkmenistan, road construction is performed by 18 enterprises under the jurisdiction of the State Agency for Road Construction Management established in February this year.

As it was reported at the Government meeting, in order to enhance the material and technical base of the Agency, it is planned to purchase new technical and production equipment, spare parts for repairing existing equipment on a tender basis at the expense of preferential loans provided by the banks.

After hearing the report of the Deputy Prime Minister, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov focused on the importance of the tasks facing the established State Agency for Road Construction Management.

Stressing the relevance of the measures taken to improve the national pricing system in construction and development of estimate cost standards, the Head of state instructed to continue work in this area, stressing that this will directly contribute to further expansion of road transport infrastructure, construction of roads to meet international standards and, as a result, steady increase in transport and logistics potential of our country, the newspaper Neutral Turkmenistan reports today.
