The World Health Organization has approved Paxlovid for the treatment of COVID-19. The drug for oral administration of the produced by Pfizer company, is available in the form of tablets. As informs the publication Kommercant WHO recommends using it for patients with mild to moderate COVID-19, who are at risk for hospitalization. WHO notes, that in these cases the use of Paxlovid “is one of the best therapeutic option for patients at risk”.
To this group WHO includes elderly immunocompromised people and persons, who not been vaccinated. The publication notes, that earlier the Paxlovid was approved by the US and European regulators, and in March UNICEF and Pfizer announced the launch of a program to provide this drug to low and middle income countries.
