Foreign Ministers of Turkmenistan and Afghanistan held talks in Tunxi

Today, Turkmenistan's Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov and Afghanistan's Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi held talks as part of the Third Foreign Ministers’ Meeting Among the Neighboring Countries of Afghanistan in Tunxi, China. According to the Turkmen Foreign Ministry, the parties stressed the importance of developing and strengthening bilateral relations in all areas of cooperation, considering topical issues in the area of political, diplomatic, trade, economic and humanitarian interaction.

The effectiveness of the Turkmen-Afghan negotiations was noted during the visit of the Afghan Minister to Turkmenistan in January this year.

The diplomats stressed the need for further intensification of Turkmen-Afghan cooperation in the area of security.

There was also an exchange of views on the progress of the joint projects, such as the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India gas pipeline (TAPI), the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan power transmission line (TAP) and the railway projects, the source notes.

To recap, the delegation of Turkmenistan takes part in the Third Foreign Ministers’ Meeting Among the Neighboring Countries of Afghanistan from March 29 to 31 held in China.
