As part of the long-term monitoring of the Presidential elections in Turkmenistan, a group of the CIS observers, headed by Leonid Anfimov, visited the Gyokdepe District of the Akhal Region. Here, the group members reviewed the polling stations, talked with members of Precinct Commissions, assessed the progress of Early voting and readiness for the main Election Day. The website of the CIS Executive Committee reports it.

In the course of communication with the members of the Precinct Election Commissions, Leonid Anfimov noted:

“Having visited today several polling stations in Akhal Region, I can state with satisfaction that a lot of work has been done for the Presidential elections in Turkmenistan. I am sure that the main voting day will be held at a high organizational level and with high civic responsibility of voters.”

According to Anfimov, short-term observers will arrive in Turkmenistan on March 9, including heads and members of the Central Election Commissions of the CIS member states, senators of the Federation Council and deputies of the State Duma of Russia, as well as representatives of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Short-term observers are expected to immediately begin monitoring the Election Campaign upon arrival.

The Head of the Mission noted that, despite the difficult epidemiological and geopolitical situation in the world, the authorities of Turkmenistan found an opportunity to organize the delivery of observers to the country.

Earlier, we reported that the observers for the Presidential elections in Turkmenistan meet with candidates.
