Berdimuhamedov ordered to provide all conditions for international observers at the Presidential elections in Turkmenistan

Today, at the meeting of the Government, Head of State Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov instructed Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs Rashid Meredov to provide comprehensive assistance to the international observers in the upcoming March 12 Presidential elections in Turkmenistan, the Information Program "Watan" of the Turkmen Television reported.

Berdimuhamedov ordered to provide organizational, technical and legal conditions for observers so that they could work at the high level.

R. Meredov was also instructed to organize polling stations and voting at the high level at the Embassies and Consulates of Turkmenistan in foreign countries.

Citizens of Turkmenistan will be able to participate in the election of their President in the Embassies and Consulates of the country located in 30 states of the world, where 41 polling stations were established.

To recap, since February 28, the CIS observers’ mission began monitoring the elections of the President of Turkmenistan.

In addition to the international observers, 2,726 national observers registered by the Central Election Commission are monitoring the Election Campaign.

Nine (9) candidates are competing for the highest state post in Turkmenistan. Three of them were nominated by the political parties and six by the initiative groups of citizens.

As reported, on March 2, in accordance with the Electoral Code, early voting began on the elections of the President of Turkmenistan for citizens who, for whatever reason, will not be able to come to their polling station on Election Day on March 12 and vote for the most deserving candidate.
