Berdimuhamedov congratulated President of Bulgaria on the National holiday

President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov addressed heartfelt congratulations to the Head of the Republic of Bulgaria Rumen Radev and the people of the friendly country on the occasion of the National holiday - National Liberation Day.

The Turkmen leader expressed sincere wishes for good health and happiness to his Bulgarian colleague, and to the people of the Republic of Bulgaria - peace, further progress and prosperity, the Neutral Turkmenistan newspaper reports today.

National Liberation Day is celebrated in Bulgaria on March 3rd. On this day in 1878, a Treaty between Russia and the Ottoman Empire was signed in San Stefano. The Treaty of San Stefano turned Bulgaria into the largest country in the Balkans.

The date of the Treaty of San Stefano signing in 1888 was declared a public holiday. Streets named after Russian generals and monuments dedicated to them appeared in all cities. The monument to Alexander II was erected in front of the building of the National Assembly of Bulgaria.

On this day, flags are hoisted, and wreaths are laid at the Liberty Memorial on Shipka Peak.
