At the group stage of the Youth Asian Cup 2022, the national team of Turkmenistan will play with the teams of Uzbekistan, Iran and Qatar. The tournament draw took place today at the AFC headquarters in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Group A: Uzbekistan (host of the tournament), Iran, Qatar, Turkmenistan.
Group B: Australia, Jordan, Iraq, Kuwait.
Group C: Republic of Korea, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia.
Group D: Saudi Arabia, UAE, Japan, Tajikistan.
Two teams from each group will advance to the playoffs. The schedule of matches of the national team of Turkmenistan will be published later.
Before the draw, the 16 participants in the tournament were divided into four pots according to the AFC Youth Rankings. The national team of Turkmenistan got into the fourth pot along with the teams of Tajikistan, Malaysia and Kuwait.
The final part of the Asian Cup-2022 (U-23), according to the AFC calendar, is scheduled from 1 to 19 June 2022 in Uzbekistan. The tournament will be held in Central Asia for the first time. 32 matches will be held in the cities of Tashkent and Karshi.
Following the results of the final stage, which is a qualification, the top three teams will receive the right to represent Asia at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
