The installation, called Mastaba, will be created in the desert of Abu Dhabi and will be the world's largest art object. According to russianemirates.com, the building is the idea of the world-famous artists Christo and Jeanne-Claude.
The geometric structure, 150 meters high, 300 meters wide and 225 meters deep, will consist of 410,000 multicolored barrels. According to the artists, the giant trapezoid in the Liwa desert will refer to traditional Islamic architecture, as well as to several of their previous works.
The project is currently awaiting government approval and the construction period is expected to take about three years. If implemented, the Mastaba art object, which was conceived back in 1979, will be the last of the artists' projects brought to life.
