On February 1, 2022, matches of the 8th round of the third round of the Asian qualification for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar will be held.
The third round of the AFC 2022 World Cup Qualifiers starts on September 2, 2021 and ends on March 29, 2022.
In the third qualifying round, 12 strongest teams, divided into two equal groups, are fighting for 4 direct tickets to Qatar. Another team will participate in the intercontinental play-offs. The team that takes 3rd place in its group will first need to win a two-legged confrontation with a similar team from the neighboring group.
The World Cup will be held in Qatar from November 21 to December 18.
Recall, that last week, the Iranian national team advanced to the World Cup ahead of schedule. The Iranians minimally defeated Iraq (1:0) and guaranteed themselves a ticket to Qatar.
The Republic of Korea, Australia, Japan, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates apply for other vouchers from Asia.
Earlier, Qatar (host), Germany, Denmark, France, Belgium, Croatia, Spain, Serbia, England, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Brazil and Argentina entered the 2022 World Cup.
