In Turkey, due to poor visibility, traffic along the Bosphorus was temporarily suspended. According to lenta.ru, the movement of ships was suspended in both directions. The Istanbul Governor's Office said that visibility in the North Chakar district of Umuryeri had fallen below half a mile. The Bosporus, connecting the Black Sea with the Sea of Marmara and the Aegean, is the narrowest intercontinental strait in the world.
Earlier in January, traffic on the Bosphorus was suspended due to a breakdown of a dry cargo ship en route to Romania near the bridge of Sultan Selim Yavuz.
