Today President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov sent to the head of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and the people of the neighboring republic in connection with the numerous human victims and injuries by the result of the tragic events of the last days.
As the news program "Watan" of the Turkmen television reported, on behalf of the people and the Government, as well as on his own behalf, the President of Turkmenistan conveyed words of empathy and support to all the relatives and friends of the victims, and also wishes for a speedy recovery to the victims.
Mass protests in Kazakhstan began in the early days of 2022. Residents of the cities of Zhanaozen and Aktau in the west of the country opposed a two-fold increase in prices for reduced gas. Fuel prices were reduced, but protests spread throughout the country.
In response, the authorities declared a state of emergency in the country until January 19 and launched a counter-terrorism operation.
According to the United Nations of Organizations (UNO), about 1,000 people were injured during the protests in Kazakhstan. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic, 16 security officials of Kazakhstan were killed, more than 1.3 thousand were injured.
In Kazakhstan today is the day of national mourning for civilians, children, law enforcement officers, who died by the result of a terrorist attack on the country.
