The Turkmenbashi oil processing complex has begun production of new A-98 gasoline, which fully meets the quality requirements of EURO-6 standards. Deputy Prime Minister for Fuel and Energy Complex Shahym Abdrahmanov reported this to President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov at a government meeting, the State News Agency of Turkmenistan reports.

According to the Deputy Prime Minister, the new product has received certificates from the Saybolt Company of the Kingdom of the Netherlands for compliance with the K5 environmental requirements and EURO-6 standards. At present, work is underway to enter the A-98 grade motor gasoline as a new type of petroleum products into the state register by the Main State Service "Turkmen Standards" and issue a certificate of conformity.

The main positive feature of EURO-6 gasoline is the reduction of a large amount of harmful substances such as sulfur and benzene. Reducing the volume of the first component means preventing the development of corrosive activity, the second - reducing the degree of toxicity of exhaust gases. In general, the impact of road transport on the environment is minimized, which becomes more relevant for large cities, where a large number of cars are concentrated.

Note that not every enterprise has the ability to produce such high-tech products. To accomplish this, modern high-tech equipment is required, which makes it possible to introduce new technologies.

But Turkmenistan is actively engaged in the modernization of its oil refining. In October 2015, 4 new units were built and put into operation at TOPC with the participation of a consortium of LG International and Hyundai Engineering.

As a result, in May 2016, the refinery increased its processing capacity to 10 million tons / year of hydrocarbons.
