President of Turkey will visit Turkmenistan with a state visit

On November 27-28, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will pay a state visit to Turkmenistan. The preparations for the visit were discussed at a government meeting today, the State News Agency of Turkmenistan reports.

The Turkish leader will take part in the 15th summit of the Economic Cooperation Organization, as well as hold a number of bilateral negotiations.

Following the summit negotiations, it is planned to sign a package of documents.

The Turkish President last visited Turkmenistan in December 2015. In 2018, Erdogan won early presidential elections in Turkey. In August of this year, Ashgabat planned to hold a trilateral summit Turkmenistan-Azerbaijan-Turkey. However, it was postponed at the request of the President of Turkey.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, diplomatic relations between the two neighboring countries were established in February 1992. To date, the legal basis for bilateral interaction is 168 documents.

Turkmenistan and Turkey constructively cooperate in the format of authoritative international and regional organizations and structures, including the UN, OSCE, ECO, OIC.

President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted with satisfaction the high level and progressive dynamics of the Turkmen-Turkish relations, noting that their strong foundation is the inviolable bonds of friendship and brotherhood, the historically established cultural and spiritual community uniting the peoples of the two countries.

The Turkmen leader regards the upcoming visit of his Turkish colleague as another step towards strengthening traditional cooperation, realizing its solid potential, bringing long-term cooperation to new frontiers that meet modern realities.
